MI Fire Apparatus Operator Dies After Falling Ill at Fire Scene

A firefighter with the Flint (MI) Fire Department passed away after falling ill at the scene of a fire, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

On February 25, 2023, at 2:33 p.m., Apparatus Operator Ricky Hill, Jr., 49, responded with fire crews to a vacant mobile home fire. While on scene, Apparatus Operator Hill suffered a medical emergency and collapsed. He was transported to Hurley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
