According to a report from ABC7, the northbound lanes of the 14 Freeway in Santa Clara, California, were shut down and one driver was hospitalized after a tanker truck caught fire just after 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
The fire was first reported on the Newhall Avenue exit and brought traffic to a complete halt. The California Highway Patrol then issued a SigAlert on the closure of all lanes in the vicinity for an unknown amount of time. Footage of the incident showed the tanker’s cab in flames.
The tanker’s driver was sent to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Two lanes of the freeway were reopened just before 11:30 p.m., but two lanes and one offramp remained closed.
