The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) announced the release of a revised publication: CGA G-6, Carbon Dioxide (sixth edition). This completely revised publication provides information on production, storage, transportation, uses and safe handling of carbon dioxide in its gaseous, liquid and solid (dry ice) forms.
“While this publication is primarily for producers, users, and distributors, it makes a excellent primer for anyone who has a need to better understand the safe use of carbon dioxide,” states Jack Wert, technical manager, CGA.
CGA G-6, Carbon Dioxide contain extensive information ranging from application to thermodynamics. The publication includes the physical and chemical properties of carbon dioxide and describes its physiology as well as highlighting special hazards that can occur while handling and using carbon dioxide. It also includes various means of carbon dioxide transport, including cylinders, containers, truck and semi-trailer cargo tanks and rail tank cars are described. Additionally, the publication discusses storage and handling of carbon dioxide in uninsulated cylinders, insulated liquid cylinders and insulated liquid containers, as well as dry ice.
