The Piedmont (OK) Fire Department designed this BOARDMAN EMERGENCY VEHICLES squad truck with a crew compartment in the body to permit transverse storage behind it, explains Chief Richard E. Lofgren. The crew faces forward to counteract back injuries in case of an accident. Piedmont has 3,500 residents within 48 square miles, but the squad also responds to rescue and EMS calls throughout the 100-square-mile county.
