VA Firefighter Badly Injured in Apparatus Crash

A firefighter suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday when the apparatus he was driving overturned.

Michael R. Buchanan, 51, was en route to a fire in a Charles City County fire truck when the vehicle flipped. He was flown by med-flight to VCU Medical Center, according to a WTVR report (http://bit.ly/JKvxiD). He has undergone one surgery, as of this writing.

A witness said Buchanan lost control on a narrow stretch of road and slammed into a ditch, which caused the vehicle to overturn.
