Washington County is spending $25 million to upgrade the emergency communications system from analog to digital.
The current system, in use for decades, has numerous dead spots where radio communication is impossible, CBS Pittsburgh reports.
Washington County Commissioner Nick Sherman said the county is making the upgrade to improve emergency services and ensure first responders can safely communicate emergencies in all locations.
