Healing Through Nature…The Yoga Way!

By Claire Diab and Dennis Boyle

Ayurveda is the Wisdom of Life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Wisdom) and is tied closely with the teachings of Yoga (Union). Ayurveda teaches us that the elements we see in nature are connected with our bodies. Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. These elements are also connected to our senses.

    Sense of Hearing

Sense of Touch

Sense of Sight

Sense of Taste

Sense of Smell

Since we are connected to nature and it is part of us, we can find comfort and healing through immersing ourselves in nature since we are coming home to our inner elements.

Seven Steps to Awaken the Healing Power of Nature:

1. Meditate. Quieting the mind allows you to feel peace.

2. Each morning, consciously open your eyes as if you are seeing the world for the first time.

3. Spend time in Nature.

4. Become aware of each sense while bringing attention to the five elements.

5. Write about the emotions and feelings that come to mind during this practice.

6. Witness the healing effects of this practice on yourself.

7. Celebrate! Feel gratitude for this remarkable existence.
