CA Firefighter Injured in Four-Alarm Apartment Fire

A Mayday was called and one firefighter suffered minor injuries in a ceiling collapse at a four-alarm fire on June 9 in Fresno, California.

Chief Rob Brown told KSEE (http://bit.ly/16ZTkrP) that firefighters were working inside the burning apartment complex when the collapse occurred. The injured firefighter was removed and transported to an area hospital.

Brown told reporters that the building construction played a role in the fire’s rapid spread. There were no fire stops in the attic space, allowing flames to travel rapidly from one unit to the next.

Six families lost everything in the fire, but there were no people injured. A dog suffered smoke inhalation.

The fire reportedly began as a grass fire.
