MSA SAFETY INC.’s new jet-style fire helmet, the Cairns® XF1, received third-party certification as compliant to the 2018 edition of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1971, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting, performance standards. It is also certified as compliant to the 2013 edition of NFPA 1951, Standard on Protective Ensembles for Technical Rescue Incidents, performance standards for technical rescue. The XF1 helmet incorporates several optional user features, which include a protective visor, an integrated communication system and LED lights that, because of their placement on either side of the helmet, significantly improve visibility without blinding others on scene. www.MSAsafety.com.

The CONGRESSIONAL FIRE SERVICES INSTITUTE and the NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION selected the Florida Firefighters Safety and Health Collaborative and the Denver (CO) Fire Department (DFD) as co-recipients of the Senator Paul S. Sarbanes Fire Service Safety Leadership Award, which will be presented at the National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner on April 25, 2019, in Washington, DC. Established in 2016, the Florida Firefighters Safety and Health Collaborative brings together members of the fire service and health and safety advocates in the state of Florida to share information and best practices on firefighter health and safety. ROSENBAUER AMERICA continues to fill an order of 71 airport rescue fire fighting (ARFF) units for the United States Air Force. George Bergamini, Rosenbauer America’s government sales manager, began working with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in October 2015 to open doors with government sales that had not been previously pursued. In the past three years, DLA has been a bid provider for many opportunities for Rosenbauer. Rosenbauer is scheduled to build 32 Panther 6 × 6 units, of which three will also have the Rosenbauer Stinger HRET (high reach extendable turret) piercing nozzle; the remaining 39 ARFF apparatus will be Panther 4 × 4 units. HURST JAWS OF LIFE® earned three awards—two gold and one silver—for the company’s new Web site at the W3 awards, winning for Best Mobile UX; Manufacturing Company; and Visual Appeal/Aesthetics. The Web site launched in late 2017 to provide dealers and rescue tool end users with robust resources, time-saving features, and an immersive HURST Jaws of Life experience. The W3 awards recognize outstanding digital marketing materials. HURST Jaws of Life’s agency Wray Ward, an integrated marketing communications agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina, designed and built the Web site and submitted it for judging. www.jawsoflife.com.
