Minnesota, October 25, 2001-A fire in one of three fire halls on the Gunflint Trail in northeastern Minnesota destroyed the building and all the equipment inside. No one was injured at the October 22 fire, which evidently started in or near an ambulance parked in the fire hall.
Besides losing the ambulance and a piece of fire apparatus, the fire hall lost all of its medical supplies and training equipment, a 20-foot fire boat, sprinkler systems, running gear, and vehicle rescue equipment. The fire caused an estimated $250,000 to $300,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
