Firefighter Suffers Hand Injury in Chicago Residential Fire

A fire in a residential building on the Southwest side of Chicago on June 24 injured five people, including one firefighter from the Chicago (IL) Fire Department who suffered a hand injury.

Among the injured transported to area hospitals were a young female with smoke inhalation injuries and an eight-year-old girl with smoke-induced asthma. None of the injuries were considered life threatening, according to the Chicago Fire Department Twitter site.

The fire progressed to a third alarm as flames broke through the roof. The fire was brought under control within about an hour and a half.
