A mother and daughter were killed in an Arlington house fire, reports wjla.com.
The fire broke out in the 1100 block of S. Emerson St. around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the home when they arrived on scene and the fire soon extended to the second level of the home.
A man and another child who were inside the home at the time of the fire were transported to Medstar Washington Hospital Center and Children’s National Medical Center. Both were listed in stable condition.
Identities of the fire victims were not immediately released.
The cause of the deadly fire was under investigation, fire officials said. But investigators noted that the home didn’t have any working smoke detectors.
