Alabama Child Burned in ‘Fire Challenge’

An eight-year-old boy from Walker County, Alabama, was burned while taking part in the dangerous social media fad known as the “fire challenge.”

WVTM News (http://bit.ly/1yKBc2Z) reported that two youths rubbed hand sanitizer on the shirt of young James Adams and then set him ablaze. He was hospitalized with third-degree burns.

The “Fire Challenge” consists of people putting a liquid accelerant on their bodies and setting themselves on fire, recording video of the event, and posting it on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The trend has prompted a warning from the National Fire Protection Association and the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, which can be found HERE.
