Automobile race track standard requested

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has been requested to develop a new standard pertaining to automobile race tracks that would cover catch fences, guard rails, pit areas, audience protection, protective gear for the pit crew, fuel cells for vehicles, providing emergency services, and qualifications of the emergency crew.

Comments on the proposed standard may be submitted in writing and forwarded to Codes and Standards Administration, NFPA, 1 Batterymarch Park, P.O. Box 9101, Quincy, MA 02269-9101. Include information on resources pertaining to the subject matter, the names of individuals interested in participating on the committees (if they are established), the names of other organizations actively involved with this subject, and the reason(s) such a project is needed.

Also, a copy of the minutes of the NFPA Standards Council meeting, held on October 10-11, 1997, may be requested by mail or can be accessed on NFPA`s home page: http://www.nfpa.org.
