BOCA announces International Building Safety Week

April 6-12 has been designated “International Building Safety Week,” announces the Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA) International, Inc. The event will have as its theme “A Safer World Is on the Horizon.” Observances are expected to be held throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

The event was conceived to “shed light on the important health and safety services available to the public through construction code enforcement departments,” according to BOCA. The emergence of an increasingly global marketplace for building construction products has created the need for a single forum for interested parties to address code-related concerns, BOCA explains.

BOCA is offering campaign kits to assist local building departments in promoting building safety in their towns. The kit contains posters, pencils, sticker sheets (for children), three brochures (one that describes code enforcement as a career), a resource list, and other promotional materials. The cost of the kit is $49. Packets of individual items are also available.

For additional information, contact BOCA International at (708) 799-2300, ext. 242 or 248.
