October 24-25—The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control will conduct the COMMAND AND MANAGEMENT —LEVEL III COURSE at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, N. Y. This is the third level of a program designed to improve the command and management capabilities of the chief officer. See October 23-25 entry for contact.

October 26-29—The Maritime Administration will hold a four-day MERCHANT SEAMEN7TERMINAL OPERATORS COURSE in Swanton, Ohio. The course consists of two days in the classroom and two days of field exercises. It provides training in basic shipboard firefighting procedures and techniques and includes use of the various firefighting agents found aboard ship. November 9-10—The Maritime Administration will hold a two-day MUNICIPAL FIREFIGHTERS COURSE in Swanton, Ohio. The first day of the course covers vessel terminology and layout, tactics, prefire planning, and a tour of a commercial freighter. The second day includes fighting live fires in the ship-like environment of the simulators. November 9-13—A five-day course on EXTRICAT.ON AND RESCUE TECHNIQUES will be offered by the George Washington University EMS Degree Program. Topics to be covered include vehicle stabilization techniques, rescue ropes and knots, and confined space rescue. The course will be held at the George Washington Univeristy Medical Center.
