Fire departments from numerous departments responded to a fire at a historic multi-story hotel in Stamford, New York.
Fire spread rapidly through the wooden structure. Photos from various social media outlets showed flames engulfing the building.
The Daily Star reported that the old Rexmere had been listed for sale and a deal was in the works with a would-be purchaser.
Built in 1898, the Rexmere is a seven-story hotel built in the style of the great 19th-century Catskills resorts, according to the Watershed Post.
The Moutain Eagle Newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/ORF50O) that Stamford firefighters got the call just before 11 a.m. this morning for an automatic fire alarm going off in the building and arrived to find smoke coming from the building.
