Firefighters throughout Nassau County, New York, battled a raging building fire at the Island Recreational Pool Supply facility on Hicksville Road in North Massapequa on the afternoon of Monday March 31.
Units encountered heavy fire on arrival at the one-story taxpayer and master streams were immediately put into action.
Tower ladders were also placed in front and rear in an attempt to stop the spread of fire to the remaining stores in the complex.
Hazardous materials units and other county agencies were called to the scene to monitor the quality of the air due to possible chemical release from the pool supply store.
It took nearly two hours to bring the fire under control but companies remained at the site to extinguish small pockets of fire.
