Firefighters Extinguish Commercial Building Fire in Savage (MD)

Shortly before midnight on Friday, Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services (HCDFRS) units from the Savage Fire Station were dispatched to the 9000 block of Maier Road in Savage to investigate an automatic fire alarm sounding.  The single story industrial warehouse building includes several businesses.

First arriving units found smoke coming from the building and requested a full first alarm assignment.  Crews began an aggressive interior fire attack, and located the fire in storage racks containing flooring material. Because of the stubborn nature of the fire, The incident commander requested a 2nd alarm bringing additional HCDFRS units as well as equipment from Prince Georges and Ann Arundel County Fire Departments to the scene.

It took approximately one hour for over fifty firefighters and paramedics to put out the blaze.  Crews remain on the scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.  There have been no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.

HCDFRS and HCPD fire nvestigators are on scene, and they have just begun their work to determine the origin and cause of the fire.  Damage estimates are not available at this time.
