A Fresno County (CA) firefighter rescued a woman from a burning house in Tranquillity, reports the Fresno Bee.
Neighbors told firefighters arriving about 3 a.m. that that the woman was trapped inside the home.
Firefighter Trent Vogus entered the smoke-filled home and heard the woman yelling for help from a back bedroom, fire Capt. Ryan Michaels said. Vogus led the woman out of the house.
Four of five birds in the home also were rescued.
Firefighters did not find any working smoke detectors in the home, Michaels said. The woman was awakened to the fire by the sounds of the other rooms collapsing.
