Georgia Firefighter Suffers Cardiac Arrest, Dies

A Georgia firefighter has died after suffering cardiac arrest at an emergency call last month.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, Swainsboro (GA) Fire Department Lieutenant Ricky Thurman, 54, was operating at the scene of a structure fire on April 24 when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest.

Immediate efforts to revive Lt. Thurman were successful and he was airlifted to Regents University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where he passed away on May 4.

He had 27 years of service.
