ICC, NFPA Create Coalition to Advance Public Safety in the Built Environment

The International Code Council (ICC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) have created the Coalition for Current Safety Codes (CCSC), a new coalition tol advance public safety in the built environment by advocating that states and local communities adopt up-to-date building, fire, electrical, and life safety codes.

Members of NFPA and the ICC are devoted to furthering the development of safe and sustainable communities by continuously strengthening building, fire, electrical, and life safety codes and standards to protect the public and first responders. The two associations are coming together to co-chair this new initiative to strengthen public awareness and broaden support for the adoption of the latest codes. This is especially timely now as economic challenges and state and local budget cuts have at times obscured the benefits of updating codes and standards in a timely manner.
