ICC Releases Performance Code

Falls Church, VA, January 7, 2002-The International Code Council (ICC) has released the ICC Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities, a broad-based, stand-alone model performance building code. It includes provisions related to structural, fire protection, energy, and plumbing systems, as well as accessibility emergency responder safety and hazardous materials issues.

Code officials, academia, designers, researchers, and professional associations participated in the developmental process of the code, which defines the objectives for achieving the intended outcomes regarding occupant safety, property protection, and community welfare.

The code also provides a framework for achieving defined objectives in terms of tolerable levels of damage and the magnitudes of design events, such as fire and natural hazards.
