Last weekend, the Sugar Creek (IN) Fire Department in West Terre Haute held its annual Fire Prevention Celebration and Fire Prevention Parade.
The Fire Prevention Celebration helps to bring the community and families into the firehouse and allow them to interact with the firefighters. Our goal at Sugar Creek Fire Department is to educate both children and families. The Fire Prevention Celebration consisted of demonstrations and hands-on elements for all that attended. There was a raffle for various safety items and a quilt and pillows that were donated for the raffle. To end the Prevention Celebration, the Kasey Program Fire and Life Safety Dog taught and entertained the crowds. Terre Haute CPR was also present for hands-only CPR training for all who attended.
To round everything up, the Annual Fire Prevention Parade started at dark and ran through the Town of West Terre Haute. Fire trucks with their lights and sirens went through town along streets filled with spectators. Fire apparatus from all over the area come out and participate in this annual event. This event kicks off the month of October so that everyone is ready to go for Fire Prevention.
