Man Arrested in Death of Los Angeles Firefighter

A man was arrested in connection with the death of a Los Angeles (CA) firefighter in a house fire last year, according to the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/wQXYbz).

Firefighter Glenn Allen died during a collapse at a home under construction in the Hollywood Hills.

The arrest occurred on February 11. The Associated Press identified the man charged in the case as the architect of the home, German national Gerhard Becker, 48.

During the January 2011 incident, fire melted plastic sprinkler pipes running through the home’s attic. Water from the pipes leaking, soaking insulation, which seems to have caused part of the ceiling to collapse. Five other firefighters were also injured in the collapse.
