Miami (FL) Nightclub Fire Investigated

City of Miami Fire Department

Officials are investigating the cause of an overnight fire at a nightclub in Miami, Florida, according to reports.

CBS 4 reported that a fire occurred at Rumba’s Discoteque around 3 a.m. A passerby reportedly saw flames and smoke and alerted the City of Miami Fire Rescue Department.

When crews arrived, the front door reportedly was open with a piece of plexiglass was pushed out. The report indicated that firefighters found a single black glove on the ground.

CBS 4 reported that a notice on the club’s door said the owner must pay almost $17,000 in rent and late fees by Thursday or vacate.

The Miami Herald indicated that the fire is being investigated as arson. The door of the club reportedly also had an eviction notice posted to it.

City of Miami crews prevented the fire from extending to nearby businesses, however smoke did enter two of these other locations. There were no reported injuries.
