New Smart Smoke Alarm Technology Reduces Nuisance Alarms

A recent study from the University of Maryland’s School of Fire Protection Engineering tested the nuisance alarm immunity of the new IoPhic technology. The study found the new smart technology of combination photoelectric/ionization smoke and fire alarms are more resistant to unwanted nuisance alarms in the home than all other smoke alarms utilizing an ionization sensor. The new IoPhic smoke alarmfrom Universal Security Instruments (USI) is the first alarm to debut new combined technology in over 30 years, virtually eliminating nuisance alarms by detecting both slow smoldering and fast flaming fires.  
 
IoPhic is an ionization smoke and fire alarm containing a patent-pending Universal Smoke Sensing TechnologyTM, which uses a microprocessor that is able to differentiate between a false alarm and a real fire. IoPhic smoke and fire alarms are very effective at detecting fast flaming fires and also respond very quickly to slow smoldering fires- up to 87% faster than the maximum allowable alarm limit.
