A 40-year-old firefighter on Long Island passed away recently after suffering cardiac arrest.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), an hour after responding to an August 22 commercial structure fire, Sayville (NY) Firefighter Sesso participated in a fire department parade including multiple fire departments. On his way home, Sesso suffered a cardiac arrest. Firefighter Sesso was transported to the Southside Hospital but did not survive his injury.
He had 23 years of service.
To date, 57 firefighter fatalities have been reported to the USFA in 2015
