OK Car Arsonist Caught on Camera, Remains at Large

According to a report from KFOR, a man who ignited a parked car in the middle of the day was captured on camera in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and police and fire investigators are now asking the public to help to identify the suspect.

On August 5, surveillance video from a home adjacent to a house on the 1900 block of West Park Place, near Northwest 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, shows a man parking at Aaron Washem’s home and walking up to his parked car.

In the video, the suspect is seen dousing the car with a liquid through the car’s open window and pulling out what looks like a lighter. A small fireball then erupted inside the vehicle, and the arsonist ran back to his vehicle sped off, leaving Washem and his neighbor to deal with the flames prior to fire crews’ arrival.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department (OCFD) is also asking the public to view the surveillance video and see if they can identify the suspect, who is driving a dark-colored Ford Mustang with a soft top.

Spokesman Benny Fulkerson is asking the community to work together to help solve the case.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the OCFD or Oklahoma City CrimeStoppers at (405) 235-7300.
