One Killed, Others Injured in Apartment Fire Near Indiana Campus

One person died and others were injured in a fire that struck an apartment complex early Thursday near the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The fire was under control by 6:15 a.m. and affected eight apartments, according to the Purdue Exponent (http://bit.ly/RTqwf6). The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Residents displaced by the fire are being housed at another building. The fire is not considered suspicious at this time, but an investigation is under way.
