After 13 months in the proposal process involving 8 competitive bids, City of Modesto, County of Stanislaus and Stanislaus Regional 911 Center has awarded Positron Public Safety Systems a $7 million contract to install, service and maintain its new Public Safety System throughout Stanislaus County for a period of ten years. Positron’s state-of-the-art, end-to-end computer-aided dispatch and records management solution will empower SR9-1-1’s 2,700 users with open access to the systems, and immediate, seamless communication among 300 mobile data devices, 36 dispatch units and numerous public safety databases.
Positron’s proposal met 99% of the agencies’ unique requirements. SR9-1-1, which covers an area of 1,521 square miles in California, handles more than half a million calls per year. In late 2005, the member agencies of SR9-1-1 realized that the current system needed to be replaced by a modern and future-proof system that would enable SR9-1-1 members to access, map and record 9-1-1 information in real time. The primary challenge was to seamlessly migrate all existing legacy data and systems onto a state-of-the-art, map-driven and real-time driven CAD/Mobile system.
The core of SR9-1-1’s new Public Safety System will be IQ/CADTM, Positron’s map-driven (ESRI-based) CAD system, which will be implemented throughout the dispatch center and agencies jurisdictions. In addition, IQ/MobileTM will be loaded onto most of the mobile data devices, providing silent dispatching and secure, two-way communication directly from vehicles to the IQ/CAD system, IQ/RMSTM Record Management System and national, state and local databases. Via IQ/RMS and IQ/Mobile, SR9-1-1 policing units will have the ability to collect, manage, search and disseminate information on demand. Crime analysis, intelligent document management and CLETS interfaces will also be an integral part of the turnkey system.
