Prostate Cancer Proposed to be Added to WTC Health Program Coverered Cancers

It is with great happiness that the FGF learns of The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health’s (“NIOSH”) proposal to add prostate cancer to the list of covered cancers under the Zadroga Act. We are confident that after the 30 day discussion period on this proposal prostrate cancer will be officially added for coverage and those who have suffered from this terrible disease as a result of their work at Ground Zero will be assured that their medical care will not cause greater financial distress.

We once again applaud NIOSH for its thoughtful and progressive decision to protect those that protected this city and nation in its hour of need. We specifically applaud Dr. John Howard for his continued tremendous work and unmatched understanding of the health hazards faced by 9/11 First Responders.

While the work and advocacy of the FGF is far from over and much work still lies ahead, each small victory comes with immeasurable happiness and gratitude that we have leaders in place that has chosen to protect First Responders now rather than when it was to late.
