Updated database is goal of new ISO outreach program

Municipalities will be able to ensure that their fire suppression capabilities are properly reflected in property insurance rates as a result of the Community Outreach Program recently instituted by Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), according to the organization. Under the program, part of the ISO`s Public Protection Classification (PPC) service, communities and fire districts will be contacted over the next two years for information on any significant changes that might affect their property insurance rates, including those affecting district boundaries, the location of fire stations, and automatic aid agreements. When indicated, the ISO will schedule field surveys.

A public protection information update form and a detailed street map showing the boundaries of the fire protection area and fire station locations are being sent to municipalities. The returned documents will be compared with information already in the ISO`s PPC database. For additional information, contact the ISO at (800) 444-4554.
