Warren (MI) Firefighters Battle Commercial Fire

On Sunday, November 9, 2014, firefighters from the Warren (MI) Fire Department was dispatched a first alarm assignment to a reported commercial building fire at 8399 12 Mile & Van Dyke.

While en route, Truck 4 reported heavy smoke showing. Upon arrival, companies found a large commercial building under construction with heavy smoke showing from the roof.

Companies stretched and command was established. After further investigation, it was found to be material from an EPDM roofing system involved on the metal roof deck.

Truck 4 was set up for aerial operations. Companies operated for one hour to bring the fire under control with one master stream and several handlines. Engines 5, 6, 1, Truck 4, Squads 4, 5, and 6, and Battalion Chief 2 responded to this incident. The cause of the fire was accidental.
