ASSE awards grant to study terrorism in schools

The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation recently awarded Daniel E. Della-Giustina, professor of safety and environmental management at West Virginia University, a grant to study violence and terrorism in schools. The project will highlight areas for potential problems and provide a guide that teachers and administrators can use to customize a plan for combating terrorist attacks and violence in their schools through facility design, risk management by training and planning, emergency planning, and awareness.
