Bill would create retirement accounts for volunteer firefighters
The Volunteer Firefighter`s Relief Act (H.R. 1870), introduced by Congressman John Larson (D-CT), would permit qualified volunteer firefighters to contribute up to $500 a year, tax-deductible, to volunteer firefighter savings account. This would be in addition to the contributions permitted for other tax-deferred contribution accounts, such as the traditional, Roth, or education IRA. Congressman Curt Weldon (R-PA) cosponsored the legislation.
