College Awarded Grant

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts recently received a $100,000 grant from the Connecticut General Insurance Corporation.

Designed to improve the master of science fire protection engineering program, the grant will sponsor a visiting professor who will teach a major course at the college.

Upon awarding the gift, Connecticut General’s Edward F. Beckwith said, “The Master of Science Program in fire protection at WPI will hopefully make a significant contribution to the protection of life and property throughout the nation.” Dr. Edmund T. Cranch, WPI’s president said, “Connecticut General has responded to a national problem and a critical need. This grant will help educate fire protection engineers who can address the problem.”
