Life Saving Tips on Detecting Toxic Gases
Pittsburgh, PA – Dräger, a leading international company in the fields of safety and medical technology, will sponsor a webinar for firefighters and first responders on the dangers of hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide commonly found in today’s smoke. Called “Detecting Hydrogen Cyanide and Carbon Monoxide – A Firefighter’s Perspective,” the free educational program is scheduled for June 2, 2011 at 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The presentation will be hosted by Captain Rick Rockford of the Jacksonville, Florida Fire & Rescue. Rockford, a national expert on the topic, will be joined by Deputy Chief Billy Goldfeder from the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department in Ohio. A representative of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and a recognized expert in fire safety, Chief Goldfeder will join Captain Rockford in a live question and answer session following the presentation.

The webinar is the second in a series of webinars hosted by Dräger on the dangers of these toxic gases. Last year, more than 1,000 firefighters and responders logged on to participate in the live event. It was subsequently viewed by as many as 3,500 participants in 22 countries on five continents. Based on the very positive response to the program, the upcoming webinar will be presented again this June with new information and perspectives on this life-saving topic.
