To paraphrase a famous quote: “Let no firefighter’s ghost return to say their training let them or the citizens they swore to protect down.” Or like my late brother EJ Mascaro used to say: “You sweat in training so you don’t bleed in battle.” Waiting for the crap to hit the fan before you realize you should have trained harder on the crap hitting the fan is NOT being the firefighter you took the oath to be.
