Drill of the Week: Helicopter Operations

By Forest Reeder

Most fire departments and EMS agencies have standard procedures for operating at incidents that require the use of a helicopter for ems transportation. Other uses of helicopters in fire department operations include wildland fire suppression operations, search and rescue operations, spotter duties, and various other recon assignments.

Using EMS transportation as the focus for this session, review your local procedures for landing zone operations. Consult the air transportation provider for your areas procedures when conducting this training session.
