Drill Of The Week: Hydrant Connections

During this week’s drill, a firefighter will be able to secure a water supply using a hydrant water source and appropriate appliances and hoselines.

The firefighter will identify the hydrant to be used and lead out supply hose to the hydrant. The firefighter will open the caps according to the policy of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). The firefighter will flush the hydrant, close it, connect the supply line, and charge the supply line to the apparatus.

For the skilled, the evolution should be completed in less than two minutes; for the highly skilled, in 60 seconds or less.
