Knowing the proper terminology used to identify the various assignments on the fireground is a key principle in the use of incident management system (IMS). Using your departments SOGs or other NIMS resource, identify the proper identification of several operational positions identified in this drill. One way to view these position assignments is to consider how they would be identified on the radio during an incident.

Forest Reeder began his fire service career in 1979. He currently serves as Battalion Chief / Director of Training & Safety with the Pleasantview (IL) Fire Protection District (www.plvw.org) and is the Director of Training for Southwest United Fire Districts (www.sufd.org).
