Drill of the Week: Single Engine Reverse Lead-out

By Forest Reeder

This evolution features a single engine fire attack using a reverse lead-out feeding a wye. An attack line and back-up line flow from the wye and must be capable of flowing a minimum of 300gpm between them. The attack engine will reverse to the hydrant using at least 300′ of supply line from the engine to the wye and is hooked into the hydrant. This is a challenging evolution for a limited manpower company, but after practice, most companies should be able to beat the NFPA standard.
