New Free Essential Search Techniques Program Available

Michael Wood and a firefighter in full gear

The Firefighters Support Foundation’s (FSF) newest training program is now available.  “Essential Search Techniques is a back-to-the-basics presentation of this essential fireground skill,” says FSF President David Kenik. The 40-minute program was filmed on-scene, and is presented my Michael Wood, a big-city fire fighter with one of the busiest ladder companies in the country, responsible for training and development.

The program delves into the essentials why, when, what and how to search, and how to prepare both yourself and your equipment for searching. It shows common mistakes made in searching, and shows ways to handle the trouble situations that are encountered. It is extremely useful as both an introduction to the subject as well as a reminder to veteran fire fighters that sometimes we can try and be too clever in this most basic task.

A feature sure to both raise hackles and be popular is the parody at the beginning of the program, as well as Wood’s direct, no-BS, get-tough delivery.

The program is free to all members of public safety and emergency management agencies.

Simply watch in the player below or download a copy of the Powerpoint and video as either an MPG or M4V file HERE.
