Drawn by Fire: Always a Firefighter!

Two elderly firefighters sitting on a park bench

It never leaves your blood, not if you truly loved it. It stays with you—the camaraderie, the meals, the chatter, the exhilaration, the passion. Unfortunately, age is the great equalizer, reminding us that everything has an expiration date. So, embrace the journey, appreciate each mile traveled, because one day you’ll have to exit the ride. Moreover, for those still active, appreciate and embrace those who came before you. Keep your doors open to your retirees; invite them in for a cup of coffee; and, if you’re fortunate, they’ll share a story or two.

STAY FIRED UP and cherish every step you take on the path we call the fire service.
