Fireground Command Training Drill: Incident Command Pretest

Firefighter training drill by Forest Reeder

Incident command pretest drill

This week’s drill lets the incident commander (IC) review the basic terminology related to the responsibilities assigned to them at emergency scenes. It is called a pretest to emphasize the need to understand these terms and principles prior to working as an IC. Many of these terms and principles will shape the actions taken at an incident including the development of an incident action plan and overall strategic management.

Define the terminology and answer the questions using your local policy and procedure or by consulting NFPA 1021 and NFPA 1026. These standards will provide job performance requirements and definitions that may assist in your completion of this training session.
