Captain Juan Miguel of the Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue Training Division reviews low-pressure connections with the rapid intervention crew (RIC) bag.
Firefighters cannot be expected to perform rapid intervention drills in zero visibility before they have mastered the ergonomics and psycho-motor skills of locating, supplementing the air supply, packaging, and moving a down firefighter. Accordingly, crews in this series of “Tip of the Spear” videos are able to see and won’t operate with blacked-out SCBA face pieces until they have trained repeatedly on basic rapid intervention skills.
