CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Time is running out to advance register for the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute’s (IFSI) 87th Annual Fire College. June 3rd is the last date that students can advance register. Registrations after that will only be accepted on-site at the Illinois Fire Service Institute
Fire College check-in and on-site registration will be held in the IFSI Learning Resource Center. The IFSI Learning Resource center is located at 11 Gerty Drive in Champaign.
Until the end of day on June 3rd, students are encouraged to register online through IFSI’s web site at www.fsi.illinois.edu.
Twenty-one different classes are being offered this year at Fire College, including hands-on classes. Nearly 90% of the classes are limited enrollment. Students registering on-site may have fewer class choices. Popular classes with spaces available include Basic Auto Extrication, First-In Officer, Coordinated Fire Ground Operations, and Pumper Operations. The Saturday/Sunday session fills early in the registration process.
Dates for the 87th Annual Fire College are Thursday, June 7 through noon on Sunday, June 10, 2011. Classes are available as 12-hour classes offered on Thursday and Friday and/or Saturday and Sunday. Most are repeated.
More than 400 Illinois firefighters and emergency personnel have already registered for this year’s Fire College. Training is held at the Institute’s Champaign training ground, and at Willard Airport grounds.
Students will need to note new parking rules for this year’s Fire College which will be outlined in their email confirmations and on the IFSI web site.
