Juvenile Arson in St. Paul

Acts of vandalism involving arson and other crimes by juveniles are the subjects of a program now in its third year in St. Paul, Minn. The program, with grants from St. Paul (insurance) Companies and the St. Paul Fire Department, is aimed at 8th and 9th graders and focuses on arson, vandalism and shoplifting.

Students study the effects of these crimes on the community, the consumer, the victim and themselves. Speakers from the police and fire departments and juvenile corrections facilities lecture, and field trips are taken to reinforce the talks. The curriculum is available from: Public Relations, St. Paul Companies, Inc., 385 Washington St., St. Paul, Minn. 55102.
