Legislature Appropriates Funds for Training Academy

The Washington House of Representatives recently passed a bill appropriating the necessary funds and authorizing the sale of bonds for the construction of a fire training facility near Enumclaw. It becomes law the governor’s signature.

The next steps are to complete the environmental impact statement and the hearing process, and to secure the conditional use permit for which an application has been submitted.

The funding will allow for the construction of phases 1 and 2 consisting of eight flammable liquid props, burn buildings, classroom/administration building, other support facilities and detailed planning for phases 3 and 4. It is anticipated that the flammable liquid fire props and planned-for-burn building will be in operation within two years.
